outside of your main set of laws - no murder, theft, assault, etc. the council has a special list of laws that supernatural creatures must abide by. if a law is broken, that being will be put under arrest and brought before the council's delegates to plead their case on their own or with a council expert (their type of lawyer). the delegates will decide innocent or guilty and issue a sentence once they come to an agreement. the council's delegates are a more political group than the council themselves as they do not have to sign any spell binding books to be on the council delegate panel. laws your characters should be aware of:
werewolves on a full moon are required to shackle and bind themselves up to get through the night if they are in or near ridgeway. ridgeway has a building called "the wolf den" which rents out secure and comfortable rooms for werewolves to turn and be contained throughout the night. werewolves are required to take one of these rooms an hour or more before the full moon rises. they may not share them with one another.
vampires may feed on ridgeway residents so long as there is consent. they may not for any reason drain any supernatural creature that allows them to feed off of them. they are allowed to feed off of humans in the area discreetly. they are expected to clean up any mess they leave in the human world. any vampire that kills a human without properly cleaning it up and risks exposing the supernatural community will have to face the council. if human deaths spike to an alarming amount, the council will put vampires on the "lockdown law" meaning no humans can be killed until the lockdown lifts. on the occasion that this happens, an official vampire squad hired by the council will be sent out to hypnotise any human witnesses and the vampire that caused the issue will be fined. if a vampire causes the situation multiple times, they will be jailed.
demons wishing to live and take refuge in ridgeway are welcome however they are not allowed to inhabit a human's body unless the human is brain dead or comatose. to inhabit a living human or supernatural creature, the demon must provide ironclad evidence of consent by the human. any demon caught inhabiting an unwilling body will be exorcised back to hell.
zombies may not feed on the brains of supernatural beings and may not attack humans in dublin to eat their brains. the council has arranged various ways to get ahold of human brains discreetly for zombies in ridgeway to purchase and eat from local establishments within ridgeway. zombies that have a breakdown and eat a human's brain in dublin generally gets let off with a warning if the council finds out. the council expects zombies to clean up their messes when they slip. multiple slip ups can result in jail time.
ghosts may not possess a human for longer than 12 hours. anything past that risks the human and the mental health of the ghost. to possess any supernatural being, consent is required. the council looks the other way when humans are possessed so long as the ghost does not exceed 12 hours. this goes for well and abled humans and brain dead humans. unlike demons, ghosts cannot stay in a human over 24 hours before going insane.
humans on top of it being impossible for humans to see or enter ridgeway, the supernatural online network is also off limits to them. the council takes introducing humans to too much of the innerworkings of the supernatural world to be a threat to the society they've built to guarantee their survival. hunters often hunt for ridgeway, unable to get in. any witches or warlocks that attempt to use magic to alter the ridgeway spell will face a harsh judgment. introducing a human to the onnline network would be a violation resulting in a fine via the council, with a two strike rule. the fine is the warning, a second time means a prison sentence will be passed down.
