OVERVIEW
in an effort to make this community a truly creative hub for your supernatural characters, we will allow you to play just about any supernatural creature you can think of. the only requirement we have is that it has a set and detailed wikipedia page. for the more popular species that you will be allowed to play (vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts, demons, zombies) you will be required to follow the below guidelines. please do not add additional powers/traits to the creatures below. everyone should generally have the same abilities as the others in their species class. this is to keep things simple and clear for everyone to be on the same page.

VAMPIRES
a vampire is a supernatural creature that has to drink the blood of humans or animals in order to sustain its immortal, unaging life. for the most part, vampires here will line up with typical lore. vampires are turned by other vampires through a bite (only when over half a victim's blood is taken from their body through the bite) and often times the secondary vampire is traditionally subservient to the primary vampire, mainly because the primary vampire is stronger and more experienced. vampires can shape shift into bats, are very good at hypnosis (after years of practice), can climb walls and have super strength/speed and the power of flight. when it comes to daylight, it does harm them. they do not catch fire but they can become deathly ill if exposed to the sun for longer than 5 to 30 minutes (younger vampires have more of a tolerance to the sun but it withers over years). myths vampires laugh at: they can be seen in mirrors and in photos, they are not harmed by garlic, it is rare that any sleep in coffins any longer. if you have any specific question regarding vampires, please ask the mods. otherwise take some liberties! not all should be exactly the same, so have fun with it.

WEREWOLVES
people, like vampires, are turned into werewolves by being bitten by another werewolf. deep scratches can also do the trick. they usually appear in human form and can shift to varying degrees into a bipedal wolf-like creature with increased body hair, fangs, and glowing eyes. on a full moon, they do not have a choice but to turn into a complete, monstrous wolf. werewolves have heightened senses, strength, accelerated healing, enhanced agility and with enough experience they can transfer pain or memories to anyone or take them from anyone but sinking their claws into anyone's skin. werewolves have weaknesses which include the use of mountain ash against them, wolfsbane and rare lunar eclipses leave them powerless. werewolves typically run in packs. the leaders are called alphas and the members are called betas. werewolves that exist outside of a pack are called omegas and have a harder time surviving.

WITCHES & WARLOCKS
witch can be male or female, males are generally referred to as warlocks by some. most witches in ridgeway run in covens of 3 to 5 fellow witches and warlocks. there are a few scattered that consider themselves to be loners. magic is a mostly learned skill but some are born with more of a natural ability to understand the intricacies of spell performing than others. they connect with the elements and forces of nature in order to practice sorcery. depending on their level of skill, witches possessed a number of magical abilities. while most witches focused their powers through the use of incantations and rituals, more advanced witches were known to use magic by sheer force of will. from telekinesis to teleportation, witches were virtually unlimited in their magical conquest. minor can-trips (such as levitating a pencil) were relatively easy to perform, requiring only emotional focus, mental clarity and an understanding of the forces involved, while the more powerful witches could alter the very fabric of reality. the more powerful the witch was, the greater the feats they could accomplish in this way, but in general the effects achieved were straightforward. by joining together, witches could double their magical strength. witches also gained their magic powers by invoking the names of deities (such as hecate or osiris), or summoning other supernatural entities such as demons. highly skilled and experienced witches (and warlocks) who drew much of their power from dark forces were sometimes, if not always, identified by their black eyes. despite their amazing abilities, witches still had limits which prevented them from being truly invincible. for a novice, and in many cases even an adept witch, tapping into volatile and powerful magics could be particularly dangerous. all magic was draining, drawing mystical energy out of the witch to fuel it, the more so when the power was channeled directly, instead of through tools. unless she took a break, even the most powerful witch would quickly be worn down by the effort of hurling spell after spell.

GHOSTS
ghosts are post-living supernatural beings that are formed by the disembodied souls of once-living humans. a ghost is created when a human, a werewolf or another mortal being dies before they can resolve certain issues in their lives. it seems that ghosts appear immediately upon the death of the person, in the same clothes that they were wearing at the moment of their death. a ghost will only be allowed to pass on to the next life if they have overcome the issue that is keeping them on earth. the details of the afterlife are not clear (it is thought to be a shining golden plain ruled by omnipotent, benevolent being/s), but when the ghost is ready, a door will appear to them that they then walk through to go to the 'other side'. ghosts are in possession of many abilities unique to them, including: teleportation, intangibility, invincibility, telekinesis, dream manipulation and tangibility (with a lot of practice). ghosts cannot be seen by humans but can always be seen by supernatural beings. ghosts have the ability to possess mortals. when they do this they will be able to drink, eat and even touch people again. possession has been shown to be very euphoric for ghosts, even addictive. ghosts do have weaknesses: they often have poor mental health (a ghost who stays in the material world for too long or who dabbles in dark behavior can become aggressive and unstable, or even lose touch with reality completely), they can be dispersed by iron, they cannot cross lines of salt and the salt can be used to contain them to a small space, they are vulnerable to magic - witches can consume ghosts to retain their youth and finally exorcism. a properly performed exorcism on a ghost can cut them off from certain areas forever.

DEMONS
a demon is a being that was at one time or another, sent to hell and likely subjected to torture for many years. however, every so often a demon escapes hell and takes possession of a human to live through. before taking a human's body, demons tak the form of black smoke and will enter and exit through the person's mouth. malevolent demons tend to forcibly take a human's body. benevolent ones however, take the bodies of patients that are braindead. they do not need the human's body to be functional in order to use it as their own and cannot be killed via gunshot or any other way. demons can only be cast out through a very specific exorcism that will send them back to hell. most benevolent ones keep their head low and do their best to not be caught by hell's minions. over time, demons possess powers more than just human possession. they gain super strength, immortality, super stamina, astral perception - (they are able to see hidden supernatural activity and beings, such as Reapers, ghosts, and hellhounds) and super senses.

ZOMBIES
a zombie is a typical human in almost all ways, physically and psychologically, and it is hard enough to find a zombie in the human masses. zombies save all their traits and capabilities they have as humans, and moreover, they can continue to train themselves, go to the gym, do hard work, live with extreme sports in their life, etc. the main difference between the two, human and zombie, lies in three prominent traits that make it clear that the suspected is a zombie: the zombie's appearance, behavior and diet. after a contact with a zombie, ingesting zombified blood, being bitten by one or simply being scratched, a human quickly turns into the one, something that is shown with the rapid change of their hair color to pale blonde and a strange desire to eat the human brains. the signs of transformation surface in several hours after the virus got into the human's body. at least a wisp of hair turns white instantly, while the other turns white or pale blonde with time. zombies can dye there hair but they have to very often to keep color. the need to eat human brains is something natural for all zombies, but many zombies do not know why. due to their taste loss, they need to eat their food, be it brains or the usual one that normal people eat, with spices. without spices, zombies cannot taste or feel their food, even drinks like alcohol and coffee need strong spices for a zombie to enjoy them. while appearing to be human, they function differently. their heart resting rate is 10 beats per minute and when injured they do not have a significant blood loss, to the point that even a gunshot will not make them grievously bleed. they need to feed on brains at least once per month, in order to stay "alive" and save their sanity. if they do not, they will turn into a version of zombies showcased on shows like the walking dead. once a zombie reaches this point, they cannot come back from it. the only way to kill a zombie is a shot in the head.
